Charity worker given new lease of life

Linda Ryan, 64, from Irlams o’th Height, turned to City West Housing Trust's Don’t Keep It Under Your Hat programme after being made redundant from her job as a charity administrator.

Linda said: “When I found the advert for the City West scheme, it was a ‘light bulb moment’ for me – I already have the skills I need to do my job, but with some extra training I knew I could make my own way.”

Linda worked with the team to develop a business plan, successfully received a grant and has now launched her business helping small charities to increase their donations.

“Thanks to City West, I've been able to go out to charities and effectively communicate what I can do to help them – and a couple have already signed up off the back of these initial presentations.

“If anyone thinks they have what it takes to work for themselves, then there isn’t a better place to start than getting involved with the Don’t Keep It Under Your Hat programme.”
