Safety and Security

At City West it is important that all of our customers feel safe and secure in their own home. Here are a few tips and ideas to help you protect yourself and offer you real peace of mind.

Genuine Callers

Protect yourself from bogus callers by being aware. Genuine callers usually make an appointment and always carry an identity card for you to check. Make sure your caller is the person in his or her photo. Look out for logos on uniforms and vehicles. You can refer to your Customer Handbook to familiarise yourself with our official uniforms and vans. Always keep the chain on your door until your confident your caller is genuine. Fire Safety

A few simple precautions can save your life in a fire. House fires are caused by faulty appliances and electrics, candles, cooking and cigarettes. Keep safe by fitting smoke alarms. If you already have them regularly check the batteries to make sure they are working. Read more information and tips in our Fire Safety lealfet.

Greater Manchester Fire-Fighters will gladly carry out a FREE Fire Risk Assessment of your home and offer you advice on how to keep safe. To arrange yours, simply call 0800 555 815 or contact Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service on 0161 736 5866.

Gas Safety

An annual gas safety check is very important. It helps us make sure your appliances are safe and not emitting dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO). This deadly, poisonous gas is colourless, odourless and taste-free. If high levels are present in your house you may feel nauseous or suffer headaches, drowsiness and can even fall unconscious.

Keep your family safe. Make sure your gas certificate is up to date. If you need a FREE gas service, email or call us today on 0161 605 7248. You can also fit carbon monoxide detectors and keep all rooms well ventilated.
