City West, in partnership with local agencies and our partners, is committed to delivering opportunities to local people- especially young people and City West customers, staff and stakeholders.

City West is an accredited CAA NVQ Centre offering the following opportunities:

Direct routes to employment

  • A career with City West - all job vacancies are advertised on this website.
  • Skills Training Programme - Providing opportunities to local unemployed people aged 16-65.
  • Local employment opportunities are identified by the Working Neighbourhoods Team at Salford City Council to help residents get into training and jobs.

Training

  • Customer Training courses are available to all customers. Courses cover a variety of subjects from DIY skills to budgeting. To see details of upcoming courses see the events calendar. You can also book your place on one of the training courses by completing the online booking form. For more information contact Julie Goreham on 0161 605 7609 or email involved@citywest.org.uk.

As well as the additional knowledge and skills gained from attending the training courses, they are also a great chance to meet new people. Please note that all courses are subject to change or cancellation at City Wests’ discretion.

Training Courses run throughout the year. This is an opportunity for organisations to take advantage of our low cost accreditied IOSH, CIEH and CSCS courses. For more information about these and other accredited courses we run please contact us. Testimonials from local businesses.

  • Work Experience is available for pupils from West Salford Secondary Schools. For more information about work experience opportunities please contact us.

Experience

We also offer work experience placements to residents 16+ in Salford who wish to gain skills to enable them back in to work or to supplement a college course. For more information about any of the above opportunities please contact us.

Achieve is City West's new Customer Training Academy - an exciting programme giving you the key skills you need to influence the work of City West. Achieve will be open to all customers who are involved or would like to be involved in the decision making of City West. It will give you skills so you can effectively take part in involvement activities; a sense of achievement when you complete the programme; if you are new to Customer Involvement then Achieve will help you make informed decisions. It will also benefit you if you wish to work or volunteer in housing or complete further more specialised training.

Free training sessions to learn how to email, use search engines, access services online, shop and more!
To celebrate Spring Online week customers are invited to come along and attend one of our free training sessions. City West staff will be on hand to help customers develop skills. All equipment will be provided. Tell us what you want to use the internet for and we will help get you started! Friday 27 April 10am-12noon, Streetgate, Baronfold, Little Hulton and 1pm-3pm, Laurence Lowry Court, Swinton
