Brookhouse Fun Day
The Mayor taking a guess at the number of bricks
Our Communities Team attended the recent Brookhouse Fun Day and rather than just hand out leaflets we used 3 competitions to engage with our customers throughout the enjoyable day!
City West Paper plane competition was a big hit with children mainly who designed and flew their paper aeroplanes cleaned up the mess before we had an adult Lee Fletcher, whose plane flew over 26 metres and just less than a metre behind in the junior event was Sean Ash. Congratulations to both who won a £25 Argos Vouchers for their efforts.
The City West Lego® House attracted around a hundred entries estimating the number of bricks. Some people guessed and some tried counting - mostly badly! The entrants included the Mayor too, who was also keen to talk to us about progress City West is making with its work in communities. The joint winners are friends Chloe Ash and Cassy Hibbard and a good job too as they can go and spend their £25 vouchers together!
Martin Reed our Head of Communities, offered himself up as a "slave for a day" too. The winner of this was decided by a computer random number generator. Pauline Thompson who is actually the secretary of the local Tenant and Resident Association won and will be arranging a day with Martin in the near future to go round for the day, do some gardening, paint her fence, wash the dishes or anything else a ‘slave’ can be put to work on!!…
Over 150 people visited the stall and many talked to us about City West and what is happening in their area along with progress in the improvement works and community activities
City West will be spending over £235 million in the next five years on improving the homes, estates and housing services in West Salford.
