Our Contractors going the extra mile!

Two of our contractors Emanuel Whittaker and Jennings have both gone the extra mile during the extreme weather conditions by re-focusing their time to give help and support in the community.

The freezing conditions meant Emanuel Whittaker’s painters could not work on external surfaces; therefore they deployed their workforce to redecorate the Brookhouse Community Centre, where they had recently donated paint. They had originally intended to use the Youth Offending Team to carry out the works, but this offer had fallen through.

The poor weather had also prompted them to enforce a revised schedule, as they cannot safely commence the external works planned. Our customers have been informed of any delays to the start of their works. Adam, their Resident Liaison Officer also took the opportunity to visit and check on residents, many of whom were delighted to have someone call on them to check on their wellbeing. Whilst telling them about potential delays, Adam made general enquiries to ensure that they have all they need to cope with the weather conditions.

Equally Jennings dedicated their staff to extra customer care, checking on the welfare of many of our customers as well as clearing snow and undertaking some essential shopping.

Miss Morgan of Belcroft Dr said she felt trapped and couldn't believe it when Tony called to check on her last Friday. She had fallen previously so Tony arranged for Sarah (Tenant Liaison Officer) to go shopping for her.

Mrs Coe, Captain Fold Rd, thought it was very kind of Jennings to clear snow from her and her neighbours’ path.

Mrs Owen, Brookhurst Lane, thought the whole job was good and was pleasantly surprised when Jennings called to check on her and clear snow from her path.

At City West we are delighted with the approach taken by both contractors and the excellent customer care displayed during the extreme weather conditions.

City West will be spending over £235 million in the next five years on improving the homes, estates and housing services in West Salford.
