City West Sponsors Alcohol Awareness Film for Salford Teenagers

City West Housing Trust was one of the sponsors of a film warning young people of the dangers of underage binge drinking.

‘Wasted’ is a film made by teenagers from Clifton who attend the Salford Youth Service Centre. The film was shot in location at Swinton police station and Salford Magistrates’ Court.

None of the children had acted before but as a consequence of their experience following filming, several are now studying drama and some have even been invited to audition for other film or television roles.

The film, which was also funded by Salford City Council and Salford Primary Care Trust, premiered at The Lowry at the beginning of June.

Mark Beach, manager of Swinton area housing office for City West, comments:

“The project was an indication of the good work that young people can achieve when given the opportunities and tools to work with and delivered the message that the community should be supporting its young people more rather than constantly knocking them.  City West would like to say a big congratulations to Denee Cassidy & Emily Wells (Salford Council Area Youth Work Managers) and well done to everyone involved in the film project.
