National Fraud Initiative
The Government have announced a national crackdown on housing fraud and City West will be a key partner in reducing housing related fraud, such as subletting, in Salford.
Housing Associations across the country, including City West, are taking part in the National Fraud Initiative in 2010, an exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud. In order to achieve this, we are required to provide personal data that we hold to the Audit Commission, so that this can be matched up with information held by other organisations, such as the police. This means that personal data held about you, such as date of birth, will be shared with the Audit Commission. Please note – the whole exercise will be undertaken in accordance with The Data Protection Act 1998.
This exercise will help us all by stopping fraud.
You are not required to do anything, but if you have any questions on this initiative or how it may affect you please speak to your Neighbourhood Officer or visit the Audit Commission’s website. This website also shows the legal powers of the Audit Commission in using this data within the Data Protection legislation and it’s Code of Practice.
City West will be spending over £235 million in the next five years on improving the homes, estates and housing services in West Salford.
