Equipment and Adaptations

A A A

Over the past 12 months the Equipment and Adaptations service has gone through a radical change to deliver a service that meets the expectations of our customers.

Based on the feedback from a number of customer forums we’ve held, we decided to bring the Equipment and Adaptations service ‘in house’.

Up until March 2011, the team have installed:

  • 344 Level Access Showers
  • 89 Wet Rooms
  • 56 Stairlifts
  • 34 Ramps

By working with dedicated and specialist contractors we’ve cut the waiting times for adaptations from 18 months to 9 months for ‘major’ adaptations and from 12 months to 3 months for ‘minor’ adaptations.

It’s not only the waiting times that have seen improvements, our customer satisfaction has also increased.

With your help and feedback we can continue to develop so we are offering a cash prize of £50 for one lucky customer per month (drawn at random) who returns the ‘customer satisfaction survey' to us.

Accessing our service

We install minor and major adaptations in our customers homes according to their individual needs. You can find out more about the types of adpatations in our Equipment and Adaptations leaflet.

If you think you would benefit from our service you can contact us by calling 0161 605 7813 or e-mailing adaptations@citywest.org.uk.

You can also find out about this service in our easy read Equipment and Adaptations leaflet.

Occupational Therapy

In order to establish the types of adaptations that our customers need City West works in partnership with Occupational Therapy.

Why do they need to be involved?

Working with Occupational Therapy will enable us to identify your medical needs within your home environment using the knowledge and expertise of a qualified health care professional.

What happens when I am referred?

If you have requested a major adaptation in your home then we will require an assessment by the Occupational Therapist to support this work. Once we have referred you to them they will contact you and carry out the assessment either by visiting you or over the phone. This assessment will take place within five weeks of the referral. If they then feel that an adaptation is appropriate then their recommendations will be sent through to us.

You may not need an assessment to be carried out for minor adaptations. In all cases please ring our dedicated number on 0161 605 7813 to discuss.
