Skills Programme

A A A

Our Skills Programme is about providing opportunities. We work with our partners to ensure the money we invest in improving our homes also creates local jobs and provides construction skills training opportunities for people across West Salford.

A dedicated Skills Centre was officially launched in September 2009, and by March 2011 an amazing 100 jobs had already been created.  200 jobs are expected to be created for local people during its first 5 years.

In its first six months the Skills Programme has also picked up an award at the 2010 Women in Construction Awards for its innovative approach winning the 'Most Innovative Development Programme' award. The Skills Programme retained the same award for the second year running at the 2011 Women In Construction Awards.

For most recruits, the Skills Programme has resulted in full-time employment.
