The City West Works Skills Programme - what's it all about?

The Skills and Development Team work with our partners to ensure the money we invest in improving our homes also creates local jobs and provides construction skills training opportunities for people across West Salford. We have recently appointed the contractors who will be helping us to improve our homes and communities.  Our contractors have made a firm commitment to employ local trainees to make the improvements.

From August 2009 for every £2 million spent by City West, our contractors will create 3 jobs for local people.

How does it work?

Once we have allocated work to the contractors we will identify which jobs they have available.  There will be a wide range of jobs from window fitters to heating engineers, kitchen fitters to customer liaison officers.

The jobs will be advertised in the local area; our housing offices, our website and throughout the community.

If you are successful you will be employed by the contractors from day 1, complete a 2 week training programme with City West and then start work with your new employer.

If this sounds like the opportunity you are looking for, find out more here about the qualities we're looking for and the qualifications you will receive.

Jobs which are available.
